A Collection is a virtual folder for gathering related files: the photos of one shoot, the images for one article, the files you want to send to a client.
A Collection holds references, not files
Think of a Collection as a set of shortcuts. The files themselves stay where they are.
- The same file can be in many Collections and still exists only once in Assets.
- Removing a file from a Collection only removes the reference.
- Deleting the original file removes it from every Collection.
- Collections can contain other Collections.
Collections need a Standard or Pro license.
Pinned Collections
The easiest way to work with Collections is the Pinned Collections panel. Open it with the Collections icon in the toolbar on the right, or press Alt+C. From there you can create, open and fill Collections.
Creating a Collection
- Select files and drag them onto the Pinned Collections icon or panel.
- Click the plus button in the Pinned Collections panel to create an empty one.
- In the Folder browser, select a folder and click the New Collection icon.
Adding files
Drop files onto a pinned Collection, or onto a Collection visible in the search results. You can also select files and press J. Dragging files onto a Collection in the Folder browser does not work. To remove files from a Collection, select them and press Shift+J.
Where a Collection is stored
A Collection made in the Pinned Collections panel is stored in your private user area, so only you and the administrator can see it.
Bulk actions and sharing
- Select a Collection and download it to get all its files at once.
- Share a Collection to send a link that stays up to date. When you add or remove files later, the people with the link see the change.
