Files often relate to each other. The Linked panel shows these relations, and some appear automatically.
Relations that appear automatically
- Files in the same Collection are shown as Contained by.
- Files placed on the same InDesign layout are shown as Referenced by.
Why link files yourself
You can create your own links for files that are connected in another way, for example:
- An image that is part of a source document
- A localized version of another file
- A document that holds copyright information or an e-mail conversation about one or more files
These show up in the Linked panel as Linked.
Linking existing files
- Select two files, right-click one of them and choose Link, or press L.
- Open Assets in two browser tabs, open the Linked panel of one file in the first tab, and drag files from the second tab onto it.
You can also link a file to a Collection, or one Collection to another.
Uploading and linking in one step
Open the Linked panel of a file, click Upload and link, and choose files from your computer. They are uploaded and linked as soon as the upload completes.
Removing a link
Open the Linked panel, open the menu of a file marked Linked, and choose Unlink. Hold Ctrl or Cmd to select several files first.
