Working in Assets starts with finding files. The search box is the quickest way to do it.
How to search
- Type a word or a phrase in the search box.
- Press Enter, or click the search term at the top of the suggestion list.
The search looks at the file name, description, tags and the rest of a file’s metadata, so the more metadata a file has, the easier it is to find.
Suggestions for folders
While you type, a list appears below the box. The top of the list repeats your search term. The bottom of the list shows folders whose names contain what you typed. Click a folder to see its content.
If you type up to three words, a folder is listed when its name contains those words in any order. With four or more words, the words must appear in the same order as in the folder name.
Useful tricks
- Leave the search box empty and press Enter to list all files in the current location.
- Click the x on the right of the box to clear your search.
- Select a folder in the Folder browser first and your search is limited to that location.
- Combine the search box with the Filter to narrow the results further.
Characters to avoid
A few special characters are not supported in a plain search term: ! ^ ( ) { } [ ] - + ~. Some of them have a special meaning in advanced queries, which are covered in a separate article in this guide.
