Assets runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to install. This article shows you how to log in and what each part of the screen is for.
Logging in
- Open the link you received for your trial in a supported browser. The address ends with
/app, for examplehttps://your-trial-server/app. - Enter your user name and password.
- You land on the main Assets screen.
Assets is meant for users with a Standard or Pro license. If features described in this guide are missing for you, ask us to check your license and permissions. The article on licenses in this guide explains the difference.
Your license does not allow you to be logged in to Assets in two browsers at the same time, so close the first session before you open a second one.
The main parts of the screen
- Search box. Type a word and press Enter to find files.
- Folder browser. Shows the folder structure. Show or hide it with the Folder browser icon.
- Filter. Narrows down the results by file type, tag, status and more.
- Search results. Your files, shown as thumbnails, in a list or in a filmstrip. Switch between view modes with the icons on the page. The filmstrip icon sits in the bottom right corner.
- Panels on the right. The Metadata panel shows information about the selected file (open or close it with Alt+M). The History panel shows versions and changes. The Linked panel shows related files. The Pinned Collections panel gives quick access to your Collections (open or close it with Alt+C).
- Bookmark menu. In the top left corner. This is where you save and reuse your favorite searches.
- Top right corner. The Upload files button, the Request Upload button and the Shared Links page.
- Avatar menu. Click your avatar to change the font size and to open the Install clients page, where you find the downloads for Assets Agent and Assets for InDesign.
A tip: right-click everything
Right-click a file to see the actions that are available for it. The menu also lists the keyboard shortcut for each action, which is a quick way to learn them.
