Assets is a web application, so all you need is a current web browser and the link to your trial server.
Supported browsers
- Google Chrome (the preferred browser)
- Apple Safari
- Microsoft Edge
- Mozilla Firefox
Only the latest version of each browser is supported, and browsers that are not on the list are not supported. If something behaves strangely, update your browser first.
Because Assets runs in the browser, it works the same on Windows and on macOS, including Macs with Apple silicon.
Small differences in Safari
- The waveform preview for audio files is not shown in Safari. A file icon appears instead.
- The Copy link button on a Share Request page is not available in Safari. Right-click the link and choose Copy link address instead.
What you do not need to install
Nothing is needed to search, preview, upload, download or share files. Two optional extras exist for specific workflows:
- Assets Agent. A small helper app that makes checking files out for editing and back in smoother. See the article on Assets Agent in this guide.
- Assets for InDesign. A plug-in for Adobe InDesign. See the article on Assets for InDesign in this guide.
Both can be downloaded from the Install clients page in the Avatar menu, provided they are enabled for your trial.
