Two things decide what you can do in Assets: the type of license assigned to your account, and the permissions you have been given on folders and features. This article explains both in plain language.
The four user license types
- Basic. For people who only need to search, download and share files.
- Standard. For contributors and designers. Adds importing and editing files and their metadata, version management, Collections, saved searches and using Assets for InDesign.
- Pro. For managers and power users. Adds creating upload requests and approvals, geotagging, reporting and system administration.
- API. For integrations that automate tasks. It is not meant for people working in Assets.
Assets itself is aimed at Standard and Pro users. Most of the articles in this guide assume one of these two.
Permissions are separate
On top of the license, your account receives permissions per folder and per feature. For example, you may be able to view files in one folder but not move or delete them, or you may be allowed to share files but not to request uploads.
Why can’t I see a feature?
If something described in this guide is missing, check these in order:
- Your license type may not include the feature.
- Your account may not have the permission for the feature or the folder.
- The feature may not be part of the trial setup.
In every case, ask us and we will check your account.
What happens when the trial ends
Your trial runs for the period that was agreed when it was set up. Talk to us before the end date so we can explain your options for continuing.
