You rarely need to download a file just to look at it. Assets previews most common file types right in the browser.
Previewing a single file
Use any of these:
- Select the file and press the Spacebar.
- Hover over the file and click the Full Preview icon in the top right corner of the thumbnail.
- Right-click the file and choose Full Preview.
Close the preview with the Spacebar or the Close button. Press Shift+Spacebar to preview in a new browser tab.
Working in full screen
- Click the i icon in the top right corner to see the metadata.
- Zoom in and out with the slider in the lower left corner of the preview.
- Switch between fit to screen and actual size with the same slider.
- Click Download in the top left corner to download the file.
- Right-click the file for the context menu.
Comparing files
You can compare up to 8 files, or 2 videos, side by side. There are two ways:
- Filmstrip view. Search for the files, switch to the filmstrip view with the icon in the bottom right corner, and select up to 8 files.
- Full screen. Select the files and open the preview.
Using a second screen
Open a file in full screen and click the New Window icon in the top right corner. The preview opens in its own browser tab, which you can drag to another monitor. The preview stays as it is while you keep working in the first tab. To add a file to the comparison, select it in the first tab and open its preview. Close the tab to end the comparison.
Audio files
Previews of audio files show the waveform. This is not supported in Safari, where a file icon is shown instead.
