A metadata report is a CSV file that lists the metadata fields and values of your files. It is useful for audits, for checking copyright information and for sharing an overview with colleagues.
Creating a report
- Search for the files you want in the report.
- Optional: select specific files if you do not want all found files.
- Right-click a file and choose Download metadata report.
- Choose the metadata fields to include.
- Choose what the report covers:
- Selected files: the files you selected.
- All found files: every file that matches the current folder, search and filters.
- Download the file.
About the file
- The report is a CSV file, which opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
- The file name tells you what it contains, for example a report on two files or on many files.
- The column headers are the metadata field names.
Tip
Use a report together with the search tricks in this guide. For example, find all files without copyright information with the query *:* -copyright:*, and export a report on all found files to see which ones need attention.
